What Kinds Do Magic Have?

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Magic develop more and more in recent years to serve audiences’ entertainment needs. It seems that the popularity of magic goes in cycles. Magic has once again surged in popularity thanks in large part to the street magic performed by illusionists like David Blaine. Because of the mystery involved and the shear entertainment, magic will always be a welcomed form of entertainment. These are the most common kinds of magic.

Child Magic

You can probably guess the types of magic that is involved with each of these. The names are self-explanatory and “child magic” is no different.

Child magic is magic that’s used to entertain children. These types of magic tricks should be more focused on holding the attention of children rather than on pure skill. A magician might have a great trick to perform but if he takes too long to perform the trick then he’ll lose the audience. Therefore, child magic must consist of quick tricks.

Up-Close Magic

Once again, you can tell what is meant by this type of magic. Up-close magic is performed for one person or a small group of people within a small space. The magician will be sitting or standing with the person (or people) or right next to the person (or people).

Tricks that are performed with this type of magic include card tricks, tricks with coins, and other small items.

Stage Magic

The last of the three popular types of magic involves performing on a stage. This means the magician is separate from the audience and is usually performing tricks for large crowds. Stage magic must include tricks that are large enough in size so that everyone in the audience can see and know what is happening.

Tricks performed with this type of magic can be and often are grand in scale. Sawing a woman in half, turning a lady into a lion, and causing large objects to disappear are all part of stage magic. Stage magicians also must be great entertainers so that they keep the entire audience involved during the show.

These above types are the most popular types of magic. Each type of magic have each way to perform different because each one will serve each type of various audience. Thus each of these types of magic requires each of these types of magic requires a different skill set from the magician. However, the common of these types is that audiences are entertaining.

How To Become A Better Mentalist

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

There are more and more mentalism now, so many mentalists are looking to become more entertaining. But how to do that well. This articles will show you some tips to become a better mentalist.

Forget About Yourself, Focus on Your Audience

This is perhaps the biggest mistake most mentalists (and performers in general) make. When they are performing they do the things they want to do. They do what they like and what they think is fun. But this isn’t always what the audience wants.

To become a better mentalist, you need to focus on your audience and put your own feelings aside. Tap into your audience and figure out what it is they want. Then give that to them. This will ensure that people like what you’re doing.

Don’t Be Afraid to be Different

If you really want to make a lasting impression on people and you really want to standout in their memories then you better dare to be different. Don’t look like all the other mentalists. Don’t act like all the other mentalists. Develop your own style and your own show. That way you will be different and you will be a better mentalist because of it.

Keep it Simple

There is no need to try to get too crazy or too out-of-the-box when you are deciding what types of things to do during your show. This is especially true for people who are just beginning. The classic acts are still around for a very good reason. It’s because they work. So don’t be afraid to keep your act simple and to perform mostly – or all – classic material.

Involve Your Audience

There’s one thing that every audience always likes. That one thing is to be involved. So make sure you always involve the audience in your act.

While this sounds easy to do, it’s not for most mentalists. Many mentalists don’t like to involve the audience because the audience obviously doesn’t follow any type of script. This throws some mentalists off their game. So make sure you’re able to roll with the punches. If you can interact well with the audience then they will love your show.

In recent years, mentalists have been more popular with audiences. So many people want to become a mentalist even the best mentalists with all they can possibly be. If you want too, read this article carefully and follow it, you will feel interesting.
